DailyKos members, please recommend this excellent diary on Kerry's Iraq floor speech! [28 Jun 2005|06:43pm]

oleander9999
Link to diary here: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2005/6/28/165638/970

Recommend it, if you can, so we can keep it on the front page, and please share your comments, too!

It's possible Kerry's speech (from today's senate session) will be repeated after Bush's Iraq speech tonight, but I"m not sure if it will be on C-SPAN 1 or C-SPAN 2... Watch the schedules!

Here's your chance to show your love and support for Senator Kerry! [03 Jan 2005|02:45pm]

If you haven't already done so, go here and read this article from the new (Jan. 10) issue of
Newsweek: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6777696/site/newsweek/

There. Finished? Did you feel like hugging John Kerry and slapping the
stupid, mean reporters who spun all of his reasonable, modest, sweet
bravery into a sad sack image of a hapless loser? Did you want to shake
the catty, disloyal "aides" who described him as "whiny" with no evidence?
Did you want to comfort poor Teresa who's been written about as unfairly
and unkindly as her husband and hug him AGAIN for calling the reporter to
defend her?

Well, if you felt any of those things, Read more...Collapse )

Still Standing [03 Nov 2004|03:46pm]

So the world didn't end. But it feels like it did.

I already wrote a long, confused, slightly-weepy entry in my personal journal so I won't go into more long, confusing, weepy details here. But let's just say today was one of the hardest days I've ever had to get up and live through. And I only caught the end of his speech...

He wants to wrap his arms around all of us... From the bottom of his heart he thanks us... I know there were tears in his voice.

I would like him to know that those few words I was able to catch through a blurred television reception are possibly going to get me through the next four years.

Our love and support are always with you, Sen. Kerry. Thank you.

A Message To Voters [18 Oct 2004|02:02pm]

[ mood | artistic ]

At least once everyday I hear someone complain about America. They complain about taxing, jobs, education, foreign policy; you name it I have heard it. Now the majority of people who I hear complain are of the age to vote. The sad thing is they do not vote. It is very hypocritical to complain about something that you can help change but YOU DO NOT! How can anyone expect change anything when they do not vote? How can anyone expect a stronger, more efficent America if they do not stand up and voice their opinoins? I hear people complain about the current president. How he isn't doing what they want or how he isn't who they wanted in office. Again these are people who did not vote. If you want a better leader you must voice it. NOTHING comes around to people who do not go looking for it so how can people expect a great leader if they do not vote? As Americans we have the right, the freedom, the liberty of voting for our leaders. Why do some people insist on passing up these freedoms? Everyone, no matter how small, CAN make a difference! Please my fellow Americans when it comes time to vote get out to those polls and VOTE for the next president! Thank you.

This is a site with posters that you can print and hang up to help influence the vote.
The posters include the address to the site so people can get the posters themselves
and learn more information on the issues they address.
Help us change some minds and change our leadership.

I've got John love. I started as an AntiBush person, but after looking into it, I realized Kerry would be an awesome president. Never the less... help me sway some conservatives by going to this site and printing some posters.

He's so going to be elected and make America better and fix all of Bush's mistakes and woooo I'm really excited about all of this. And he's such an amazing debater!!! He makes Bush look like a babbling idiot. Well...that's not that hard to do, but anyway. Glad to know there are other people out there who think he's as great as I do!!!

Ah! Woo! and Squee! John Kerry is wonderful. I actually have a (rather long XD) John Kerry story to tell and I'll just post the link to it in my journal. Basically, it explains my icon and the adventure my mom and I took from Deltona to Kissimmee with low fuel, no directions and only our fervent love for John to get us there ^_^ Read if you wish and oh so glad to be here!

(crossposted)

I've created a "lovemark" for Kerry on the lovemarks website, and sent a link to all of my friends... I went to go look at how it was doing, and I was dismayed to learn that a bunch of nasty Bushies had gone to my page and voted "lose it" on it...YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME. Anyway, it's nothing that will directly affect the election, but it's a fun website where you can nominate things that inspire you. I, of course, nominated John Kerry!!!!!!

So, for those of you who are fellow Kerry supporters, please consider taking a moment to SUPPORT OUR MAN. Here is the link:
http://www.lovemarks.com/lm/read.php?LID=2260#Scene_1

Go to the lower left of the screen under Kerry's pic and vote "love it!!" You can also leave favorable comments about our guy. A lot of people from all over the world see this site. Unfortunately, I think some Bush supporters are deleting their cookies and voting over and over again, so I really hope I can get a lot of people to vote for Kerry!

Thank you again. If there is anything I can do to help any of you, like participate in a poll or visit your website, etc, let me know.

Interesting tidbit [10 Aug 2004|10:14pm]

blackmettalic
I was looking at a couple magazines while I was at Barnes and Noble and they had a little paragraph about how John is "making a play at single women" meaning he is trying to go after the single woman vote. It went on to say that single women are a larger voting group than certain minority groups combined (I think they said black, lationo, and one other). I find this hard to believe, but I certainly was caught by the wording. I guess they say single women didn't vote as much as married women in the last election and are apathetic (but who isn't these days?) I hadn't noticed his "play at single women" as they put it. But needless to say despite the fact that I am a single woman I wanted to vote for Kerry just by reading about him and his platform. Even before I became a fangirl. ;)

The idea came from a thread on the Kerry/Edwards community johnxjohn.

So, er, hello and welcome! There is a number of Kerry-related communities on LJ, but they're all of a more political (read serious) bent. I don't know how many people will be interested in this avowedly fannish community. Here it is, though, a place to post pictures, icons, news article links, observations, writings and, let's just say, general squeeage. This is for those of us who think there's more to John Kerry than the dull, indecisive candidate whose greatest virtue lies in his Not Being Bush that the media generally seem to insist on portraying him as.

Also: I'm working on the layout, icon and userinfo for this community, and wonder if anyone would like to be co-moderator.
